Mock Trial Teams Perfect in Columbus Competition

February 2016

Miami is the top ranked public school and fourth ranked overall (behind Harvard, Yale, and NYU) in the 350+ national universe of mock trial colleges and universities.

The Columbus regional boasted many regional powers in the 26 team field: Ohio State, Indiana, Northwestern, Kentucky, Illinois, Notre Dame, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Ball Sate, North Central College from Geneva IL, to name a few of the marquee schools. Eight teams would advance out. Miami expected to grab two of those slots....and grab them they did. Miami was the only school to advance out with perfect 8-0 records for both of their teams for a total of 16-0.

Miami also took home a handful of individual awards in addition to it 18th consecutive regional top finish: All tournament witness awards went to Adam Korn, third year philosophy major from Los Angeles and Najeeb Ahmed, fourth year finance major from Perrysburg. All tournament attorney awards went to Bella Seeberg, third year political science major from Naperville IL, Ben Sandlin, fourth year chemistry major from Cincinnati and Austin Worrell, third year political science major Maineville.

Miami's "A" team is coached by Business Legal Studies faculty Jaime Glinka and Neal Schuett; Miami's "B" is coached by Business Legal Studies faculty Gus Lazares and Lawrence Hilton. Dan Herron is the director and founder of the program. The program is named after Miami alumnus Jim Lewis and his wife Beth who have proven to be good friends, benefactors, and supporters, in the development of this Miami jewel.
